Waterproof covers keep the nappy in place since they are closer fitting. The nappy is folded into an oblong shape (like a nappy pad) and placed in the centre of the waterproof cover. The cover then closes around the baby in much the same way as a disposable. No pins or "nippa nappas" are required to keep the nappy in place though it does help if you have vests with poppers underneath and as the baby gets older, you may find you have to move on to wrapping the terry round more to keep it in place.
