There are many ways forward with your real nappies. Basically, you can either attach the nappy around the baby in a traditional fold (rather than showing you a diagram, ask anyone over 45!) and secure with pins or nippa nappas or fold the nappy up into a pad shape, and then use without pins or nippa nappas in an appropriate nappy cover.

To use real nappies effectively you need the whole thing to be as hassle-free as possible. You need to make sure that you have enough nappies to change regularly and store until you have a full load for the washing machine (about 25 is one load in the washing machine). You can buy proprietary soaking solutions, but a good wash at 60 degrees with a pre-wash, should be sufficient.

Don't use fabric conditioner, since it reduces absorbency. Tumble drying makes life easier and fluffs the nappies up nicely!
